Mexico Bass
No other game fish is more popular than the largemouth bass, and it’s probably safe to say, more anglers pursue it than another species. A number of lakes have opened up in Mexico in recent years, offering superb largemouth action along with great trophy possibilities. Many anglers will boat 50 or more fish per day, and when action is hot, hitting triple digits is not impossible. Two to three pound bass are the expected norm, but five to eight pounders are commonplace. Ten pound trophies have been taken often from all the lakes, while 12 to
16 pounders are landed with alarming frequency from El Salto, among others. All approaches to taking bass can be effective, from topwater to crankbaits to soft plastics. For the angler who likes to fish via a variety of approaches, or wants to experiment with new techniques, it would be hard to find a better fishery.
All of the lodges listed provide modern, inviting accommodations within easy reach of their home waters. Each maintains a large fleet of fiberglass bass boats run by experienced Mexican
guides who know all the right spots.
