Guatemala Sailfish
In recent years Guatemala’s Pacific has
emerged as one of the world’s hottest sailfish grounds. From the fall
through the early summer hordes of sails invade these waters. Boats
often report raising 15 to 20 sails a day, sometimes over 30 when action
is at its peak. With such numbers it’s an ideal location for light tackle,
bait and switch tactics as well as numerous opportunities for the fly
rodder. Marlin are present as well, though not in the prolific numbers
as the sails, along with tuna, wahoo and dorado. Captains and boats
are top notch, with years of experience under their belt. Guests are
accommodated in small, private lodges, with all the right amenities
plus charters close at hand.
