Bonefish and Tarpon - El Pescador - Belize
The flats surrounding Ambergris Cay are among the best for tarpon outside of the Keys. They certainly see far fewer anglers on an annual basis, and are host to a healthy supply of tarpon that average 35 to 60 pounds, but which can top
100. Additionally, guests can also explore a variety of other tarpon hot spots, many of which feature coveted smaller tarpon along with the occasional biggies. If that’s not enough, there are miles of bonefish and permit flats within easy reach, schools of jack and ladyfish to pursue, and a host of snapper, and grouper, among other species, along the barrier reef right outside the lodge’s front door.
El Pescador’s crew of English speaking guides are old hands at all approaches to this light tackle fishery, from fly fishing to casting and spinning. The lodge’s two story structure has been continually upgraded over the years, and now features
air-conditioned, double occupancy rooms with private bathrooms, well prepared meals, even swimming pool for a relaxing, après-fishing dip.
