Tarpon - Manzanillo Tarpon Expeditions - Costa Rica
|
Brand-new Manzanillo Tarpon Expeditions promises great Costa Rica tarpon fishing. Located in southern Costa Rica, just over the border from Panama, Manzanillo guests have access to miles of beautiful, unspoiled coastline, along with numerous river mouths and lagoons, all good tarpon habitat. This is big tarpon
country - 75 to 80 pounders are average, while most anglers will tangle with a number that go well over 125 pounds. 150 pound plus giants have been landed already in the camp’s short history, and even larger trophies have been jumped but not yet brought to boat. Mangrove shorelines and islands also hold the promise of snook, with hefty fish over 25 pounds already recorded. Although not extensive, there are even a few flats where schools of bones, even permit have been sighted. Local guides all speak excellent English. Each runs a 28’ fiberglass panga, with well maintained, powerful outboards. These boats are very stable, comfortable fishing platforms and ideal for these waters.
Guests are accommodated at a small, very attractive hotel right on the ocean, just minutes from the tiny hamlet of
Manzanillo. Air-conditioned rooms all have private bathrooms, electricity, tiled veranda, even TV and telephone. The grounds feature miles of unspoiled beach, pool and tennis courts, while their restaurant offers an extensive menu and well stocked bar.
