Peacock Bass - Amazon Queen/Rio Negro Lodge - Brazil
Both the Amazon Queen
houseboat and Rio Negro Lodge offer excellent
opportunities for trophy peacocks. While an average
peacock will go 4 to 8 pounds, there are daily
chances for 15 pound plus trophies, with most every
week of the season chalking up at least one giant
topping 20 pounds. The present world record
peacock of over 26 pounds was taken by an Amazon
Queen guest. This is not just big fish
territory, though-racking up 25 pavon in a day is
not uncommon, along with a smattering of other
species as well.
The Amazon Queen is a live-aboard houseboat that
moves from tributary to tributary, depending on
season. It features double occupancy,
air-conditioned staterooms, plus spacious dining and
lounge areas. Rio Negro Lodge offers an
outstanding land based lodge the features all the
standard amenities, plus many extras, making it one
of the most comfortable facilities imaginable. At
both operations, experienced guides operate new,
fiberglass bass boats with powerful outboards able
to quickly whisk anglers to the best spots on the
river. Fly out fishing in float equipped
aircraft is also an extra cost option, allowing
guests to reach even more remote, trophy filled
waters.
