Salmon - Unalakleet River Lodge - Alaska
Salmon fishing on Alaska’s Unalakleet river is among the best in the state. Unalakleet is the only facility on the river, which flows from its western Alaskan location into the Bearing Sea. Because of its proximity to the salt, bright, fresh run salmon at the peak of their physical condition are the norm. Early season brings king or Chinook salmon between 15 and 25 pounds, with trophies over 35 lbs. possible. As July runs into early August, sockeyes, chums and pinks begin their spawning migration. Mid-August means aggressive, wildly acrobatic silver salmon, ideal for both fly rod and casting/spinning tackle. Unalakleet guests can also tangle with dolly varden and Arctic grayling, both great light-tackle favorites. Unalakleet’s unique, peeled log lodge sits on a bluff overlooking the river. Adjacent cabins offer top quality amenities, and the active staff works 24/7 to insure each day is memorable.
