Trout - New Zealand
| For the trout angler, the
rivers and streams of New Zealand hold a special charm.
It's one of those "must visit" locations on
every angler's dream list. Both brown and rainbow trout
average four to five pounds. Six to eight pounders are
encountered most days, in addition to possibilities for
ten pound plus fish in some watersheds. New Zealand
streams, in addition to flowing through some of the
world's most spectacular scenery, typically run very
clear and it's the norm to be able to see every trout
before the casting games begin. Experienced guides are
essential to success in New Zealand, and their gentle,
patient manner has won them universal acclaim as some of
the best in the profession. Most angling is done within
easy reach of a number of major lodges on both the North
and South islands, though helicopter fly outs to more
remote rivers is available as an extra cost option.
Both the North and South Islands of New Zealand offer
wonderful scenery and great lodges where anglers can
headquarter. Each facility provides excellent, inviting
accommodations, appealing meals and an experienced crew
of guides. For the non angler, many locations offer a
wide array of activities, from hiking to sightseeing to
just relaxing and enjoying the view.
